Day 60: London Life!

I was in no rush to head out this morning- its not like the weather was very enticing (grey skies- how English!), but another reason: all my clothers were being washed! (HaHa of course I took advantage of the free laundry as soon as I got to Kit and Laura's!) But it gave me the chance to get my stuff organized for Ireland tomorrow!

By the time 1:00 had rolled around my laundry was done, my hostel in Dublin was booked and I was showered and ready to go! There wasn't really any tourist attractions on my list of things to do so I just hopped on a bus (a red double decker, of course- reminded me of my summer as a tour guide!) and went down to Oxford Street. Its a super busy shopping street jammed with stores- and people! Its scary to see all the Christmas decorations around- definitely bringing me back to reality! But its kind of a goof thing because its kicking my butt into action- I actually bought a few gifts today!

I also noticed a few people wearing poppies- oh yeah, Rememberance Day is also coming up! But the British poppies are a little different than the ones in Canada. At first I wasn't a big fan- they look like their made out of paper!- but I figure that is more realistic than our fur-covered plastic ones!

I continued down Oxford Street, headed down to Leicester Square and Picadilly Circus, then took the bus back home. I don't know what it is with London but I'm not a very good "tourist" here- I only took 3 pictures the whole time!

At 7pm I met up with Laura- and MIKE who came up from Crawley just to have dinner with us! (I can't remember if I mentioned it, but FYI Mike got a job just outside London and moved here less than a month ago!) We went to a yummy Italian restaurant with authentic wood-oven pizza- it was very delicious but I must admit, not as good as the pizza I had in Naples! I also had a delightful tiramisu for dessert (luckily I had nothing to compare it to so it was top-notch in my books!)

When we got home I packed up my backpack and got ready for my flight in the morning. Tomorrow its off to the land of Guiness, leprechauns- and hopefully no rain! (HaHa very doubtful on the last part!)

Love, Dianna
