Well after last night's festivities with my hostel-mates, it definitely wasn't an early morning for me today! I did manage to make it out of bed before 10:00, though (just so I could get the free breakfast! haha). Once again the weather wasn't cooperating (not only was it rainy, but quite cold, too!) but I couldn't let that stop me!
First off, I headed to the train station to book my ticket to Lisbon. I was planning on making Porto my next stop, but the trains from Madrid were not very convenient, so I decided to change my plans slightly. I made a reservation on the overnight train which is great because that means I don't have to pay for a hostel! But I did decide to opt out of getting a bed on the train and I just purchased a seat...I'm not sure if this is the best time to be cost-cutting, but I figure I've slept in plane seats before, and that's like the same thing, right?!
Once I booked my ticket I wasn't feeling too hot. It might have had something to do with all that high-end Sangria I was drinking last night. So I went where I always go when I´m hungover- McDonalds! I know, not exactly authentic Spanich cuisine, but it really did hit the spot!
I then headed to the Prado Museum to check out some amazing art work. It was still raining so I decided that staying inside was the best idea! Some of these paintings were just incredible! Some of them looked like photographs they were so realistic! Once again, no photos were allowed inside, so I guess you are just going to have to come to Madrid to see it for yourself!
Tonight is going to be an early night for me (especially after last night!) Since my train to Lisbon doesn't leave until tomorrow night I might do a day trip over to Segovia. It looks really cool from the pictures I've seen, plus I'm hoping they will be having better weather than we are here!
