Day 6: Almost Au Revoir to Paris...

Today I was in full on sightseeing mode- The Louvre, the Siene, Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter...I must admit, I almost forgot the Eiffel Tower after all that! But I did manage to stop by for a quick look, and it doesn't get old, let me tell you!

I then made my way back to Montmartre, but since I couldn't get back into the hostel quite yet (they have a lock out from 11am-4pm) I stopped off to see Sacre Coeur. I was wondering why they had a funicular to get there- it didn't seem THAT high up- but as I walked up about a million stairs I realized, yes it really was. It was worth it, though- the church was beautiful inside (unfortunately they don't allow you to take pictures), but I did get some great pics of Paris from up there- what an amazing view! Oh yeah, and I totally got harassed by one of those men trying to trick you into giving them money by tying a bracelet around your finger (if you've been to Europe then you probably know what I'm talking about). He approached me as I walked by, but I quickly said "no thank you" and kept walking. But he persisted, grabbing my hand and asking me to stop. I kept saying no, he kept saying "F-you", which by the way, not the best way to sell yourself...Fortunately one of his cohorts stepped in and got this guy to leave me alone- thank God!

After Sacre Coeur I was craving a crepe (ok who am I kidding, I had been wanting one all day), so on the way back to my hostel I grabbed one filled with nutella and bananas- delightful! I also stopped by the grocery store- I got some pasta for dinner tonight and some meat and cheese to go with the buns I stole at breakfast this morning (I told you I was going to take full advantage of the free breaky!). It was just a quick stop off at the hostel as I wanted to make the FREE walking tour of the neighbourhood I was staying in- Montmartre. Yes, I thought there was a catch too when I saw the word "free"- but nope! It's just some guy who puts out flyers in hostels around here and relies on tips to make his money! Just a genius idea...maybe I should try that for my new career venture...The tour was awesome and I actually learned quite a but (should I really be doing that on my vacation?! Oops!)

I got home after the tour, made some dinner, and now I'm writing in my blog! It's gonna be an early night for me since I gotta wake up super early to catch the train tomorrow. Ugh, I feel like I'm in school again! Learning AND waking up early?! This vacation stuff is hard work!

Love, Dianna
