Day 25: Viva Valencia!

After realizing we would have to take an overnight train to Valencia and we would be arriving at 5am, we were contemplating whether we should have just gone straight to Barcelona instead. Well, I am happy to announce that we are very glad we made a stop here!

Our train was delayed getting into Valencia so we arrived at 6am instead of 5. Normally I would be pissed if my train was late, but this time is was a good thing! That meant we had only 2 hours to kill instead of 3 before we could drop our bags off at our B&B! With not much to do that early in the morning, we hung out at the train station- ate some breakfast, had a nap (well, Mom did anyways...)

At 8:00 we went to our B&B, dropped off our stuff, and then headed out again. We wandered about town, checked out a massive farmer's market (St. Lawrence Market and Granville Island, watch out!), strolled through a beautiful park (just like Central Park in NYC except they have a million different fountains and bridges...beautiful!)

and saw a massive complex of museums with a very unique architectural design. We found it to be quite modern compared to all the other cities we have been to so far- different, but wonderful nonetheless!

When we could finally check in to our room we took a few hours to shower, relax, nap...and then headed out for some famous Valencian paella. To give you a better idea of what paella is, think of it this way: New Orleans has jambalaya, Asians have stir-fry, and the Spanish have paella! It's a suuuper yummy rice dish that was invented right here in Valencia so of course, we had to try it! We were noticing on all the menus that you could only order paella for two people. The problem was, I wanted seafood and Mom wanted chicken. They said they would be able to make us two separate ones which were very happy about...until they brought it to the table. They were MASSIVE! Mom was a little afraid at first...(Oh my God, what have we just done?!)

But of course, that didn't last long and she soon dug in.

We are heading off to Barcelona tomorrow morning so unfortunately no time to check out the beach here, but hopefully we can have a little R&R in the sand in the next few days! (Oh, by the way, if you haven't guessed, besides a few scattered rain showers, the weather has been unbelievable! Sunny and 30 degrees today! Jealous, anyone? haha)

Love, Dianna
