For what seemed like the first time since Mom joined me, we found our hotels with no problems- woo hoo! It's in a great location- right in the Old Town with stores, restaurants, and the beach at our fingertips. We explored all of that this afternoon- well, we didn't actually go to the beach but we did notice that they don't have sand here- just rocks! It doesn't seem like that would be very comfortable to lie on, but I guess I will just have to test it out for myself tomorrow! (Mom has to catch her plane in the morning but I will be spending another night in Nice) We also checked out "The Rock" which is a really nice park at the foot of the Old Town. It's situated quite high up on a hill so we opted for the elevator instead (hey, don't call us lazy- we have been doing tons of walking this trip!) The green hills, the red-roof houses, the bright blue sea...what a beautiful view from up there! Mom wouldn't get too close to the edge (just a LITTLE afraid of heights) but I managed to get some pics of the wonderful scenery.
After we made our way back down to normal height we stopped for lunch and had- what else- a Niçoise salad (a must-have in Nice I should think!) It was MASSIVE (and delicious!)- glad we decided to split it!
After wandering around for a bit more we went back to the hotel to cool off (did I mention the amazing weather here??) and relax. For the first time in a while (actually I think the first time since Mom arrived!) we decided to just do a simple dinner- some take-out pizza and wine in our hotel room (PS. the wine was in plastic cups- classy!) Over dinner we chatted about our favourite places we went- we couldn't decide so it ended up a discussion of our favourite meals and desserts...but once again it was hard to decide- too many good ones to choose from!
Although we had a few disareements along the way it was great to have my Mom woth me for these past few weeks. We have seen so many amazing sights together and I know it is something neither of us will forget! THANKS MOM!
Alright, who's joining me next??? :)
Love, Dianna
