Day 43: Already??

43 days on the road- I can't believe it! There's less than a month left on my journey and I don't want it to end! Although it will be nice to see my friends and family again, I am NOT looking forward to going back to winter! As my time here gets shorter and shorter I am finally being forced to answer the much-asked question: what am I going to do next? Well I would LOVE to continue travelling. I have met so many great people with some amazing stories of places I have never been or never even thought of going! I just feel there is so much more for me to see before I go back into the real world! But I also know that I can't keep spending money without earning anything back. I would love to somehow incorporate travel into my job...people have told me how great working in a hostel is....a girl I just met works on a cruise ship which she absolutely loves...and of course, there's always the possibilty of going back into radio. Someone I went to college with is working in the Cayman Islands- now THAT sounds pretty cool! I don't want to stress over this too much- not yet anyways! I know for sure that I will be home for Christmas, though- that I can guarantee! But after that...who knows!

As I headed out of the hostel this morning you could tell it was Monday by how packed the streets were again. I gotta admit, even though it is craaazy busy out there I think I prefer it to the ghost town it was yesterday! I took the bus up to the archeological museum and saw lots of really cool statues, paintings- a lot of coming from Pompeii which I visited last week. It still boggles my mind how OLD these artifacts are and the fact that I am looking at them in a museum thousands of years later. I was reminded though, of another pet peeve of mine- most of the descriptions were in Italian AND English, but for many of the pieces in the Pompeii section (which was the part I was most interested in) they were only in Italian. I feel like it pretty much forces you to buy the audio guide if you want all the information. I'm not a huge fan of audio guides because: 1) I feel its SO much information, and I probably won't listen to half of it anyways, and 2) I'm already paying 10 euro admission to the museum, I don't want to have to pay another 4 euros for the audio guide! Its such a scam! The same thing happened to Mom and I when we visited the Alhambra in Granada- except there were NO signs at all! Either way I still enjoyed myself and found it quite interesting.

The weather today turned out to be gorgeous. Still cool, but nice and sunny! A wonderful change from what we've been having lately, thats for sure! This afternoon I headed up the funicular to wander around...and check out some great views! (haha I'm sure that didn't surprise you!) Walking home I not only had to dodge cars but also tons of dog poo! It's been that way all over Europe but it seems like its getting worse and worse with every place I go! I guess its just normal NOT to pick up after your dog! I find that so weird...and annoying! The worse is at night when its dark out...you just hope for the best! Luckily I haven't stepped in any yet- and I hope it stays that way!

For dinner I went back to Sorbillo's for the best pizza ever. I stuck with the margherita and it did not disappoint! I am seriously thinking about going back tomorrow night- would that be wrong?! Tomorrow I am heading to Mount Vesuvius for my last day in Italy- can't believe I will be in Greece on Wednesday!

Love, Dianna
