Day 31: I Think I'm Alone Now...

As Celine Dion would say- "All by myseeeeelf"...I'm officially on my own again as Mom left for the airport this morning. As much as I am sad that she's gone, there are pros to travelling alone, so its nice to be solo again! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, eh? After I got Mom in a taxi this morning I packed up my stuff and checked in to a hostel- no more cushy hotel life for me!

I then hopped on the train to Monaco- the ride is only about 20 min but it seems much further in the fact that Monaco is not only its own country, it feels like its in its own world! I think only rich people live there- every building looks like a palace! (Funny enough, the actual palace is not that impressive!) I got to Monaco at 11:30- I wanted to see the changing of the guard at 11:55 and I figured since Monaco is tiny, it would be easy to get to the palace from the train station. But of course I didn't take into account the fact that it is very hilly. (I should have known!) I booted it up the million stairs (workout for the day- done!) and made it just in time.

I then wandered over to the famous Monte Carlo casino (I didn't dare step inside wearing my shorts and tank top!) and then to where I've been dying to go- the beach! Like Nice, there was no sand, just stones- a little hard on the feet but I wasn't complaining! I had a wonderfully relxing few hours laying on the beach, enjoying the scenery; and loving life! (How lucky am I??) So I take back my earlier statement of wanting to move to the south of Franxe- I want to move to Monaco instead! Although either way I think I will have to meet a VERY rich man for that to happen!

When I got back to Nice I booked my ticket for Italy tomorrow and then got some business done- laundry! (it can't be all fun and games!) I picked up some groceries for the train ride, wandered around the town for a bit, and called it a night!

Love, Dianna

PS. A few things about Nice that I forgot to mention...When I was walking to my hostel in the morning, a French man came up to me and said (in a French accent, of course) "You have very beautiful feet." A little shocked and a little confused, all I could say was "Thank you"! Then he said, "May I kiss them?" and once again I didn't know what to say! Unfortunately I was not quick enough for a witty comeback so I just laughed and said NO! Why do these weird men keep coming onto me? Why can't attractive, normal men do that? HAHA Anyways, on another note- there is one thing I couldn't help but notice about Nice. It seemed like people there only had one type of breed of dog- Jack Russell Terriers! It was either the world mocking me, or maybe it was a sign that I should move there and get another Jack...I definitely wouldn't mind if it was the latter!
