4 train rides, 2 countries (well 3 if you count passing through Monaco!), and 6 hours later I have arrived at another beautiful location- Cinque Terre! I keep saying it wrong but the correct pronounciation is CHEEN-quay TARE-ay....Anyways, its 5 small villages all connected by an amazing walking trail. I met some girls at the train station who all happened to be going to the same hostel as me, so it was nice to have a few buddies to hang out with (and do the trail with tomorrow!) We are staying in the 5th of the 5 villages- I'm not sure how big the other ones are but Riomaggiore is TINY. I'm going to guess only a few hundred people? Of course with all the tourists those numbers multiply like crazy! It is this cute little seaside town- only a few restaurants, one rocky little beach...and thats about it!
When we got into town we walked around for a bit...got some gelato which was AMAZING (why did I bother getting it anywhere else? Italians really know what they're doing!), picked up some groceries for tomorrow, then headed back to the beach to watch the sunset. Unfortunately the clouds kind of ruined the view but I still managed to get a few shots!) We then headed to dinner- we had a grumpy waiter and so-so pasta, but whatever! I'm in paradise, can I really complain? On our way back to the hostel we got gelato AGAIN (it really is THAT good) and called it an early night because we have a big day of hiking ahead of us tomorrow! The trail is 9km and they say it should take you about 5 hours to complete...wish me luck!
Love, Dianna
PS. If you already read yesterday's blog, read it again! I just added a few more things that I forgot!
